It was titled “A Night to Remember” and turned out to be that, and more. Bruce Springsteen reunited with members of his rootsy Seeger Sessions Band tonight at the annual Kristen Ann Carr Fund gala, which took place at New York’s Tribeca Grill.
According to backstreets.com, eight Sessions Band members – Charlie Giordano, Jeremy Chatzky, Larry Eagle, Sam Bardfeld, Soozie Tyrell, Lisa Lowell, Ed Manion and Curt Ramm – were officially scheduled to perform. So was Nils Lofgren, who was not part of the Seeger Sessions Band. And according to various internet reports, Springsteen showed up and performed with them on “Pay Me My Money Down,” “O Mary Don’t You Weep,” “Jesse James” and “My Oklahoma Home,” which were all included on Springsteen’s 2006 album, We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions, and featured heavily on his subsequent tour.
There is a photo of Springsteen with the evening’s honoree, filmmaker Thom Zimny (a frequent Springsteen collaborator), on the Facebook page of The Kristen Ann Carr Fund, which honors the late daughter of Springsteen’s co-manager Barbara Carr, who died of sarcoma in 1993.
Tickets for the benefit started at $500. The online auction continues for several more weeks on charitybuzz.com.
